Shawnee Mountain Gallery

Artists Vincent & Carolyn L Tolpo opened Shawnee Mountain Gallery, Studios and Pottery in 1981. This historic structure was built in 1904 and is a signi`cant structure in the Shawnee National Historic District.

Shawnee Mountain Gallery offers unique one-of-a-kind art in many media. Visitors are welcome to chat with the artists, visit the pottery studio, and see work in progress. Vincent’s popular landscape pottery shows the Contemporary Western terrain and mountains. Natural clay slips made of soil samples indigenous to the region are fired onto the pottery. Carolyn and Vincent also make art pottery, open-stock dinnerware, and functional work.

Special orders are welcome. The pottery is oxidation fired to 2291 F. The pottery is microwavable, ovenproof, lead-free, and dishwasher safe.

Carolyn’s designer jewelry features antique and hand-made beads, and semi-precious stones. The visiting public enjoys the wildfower gardens featuring abstract / assemblage sculptures created by the Tolpos.

The Tolpos’ art is found in international public, corporate and private collections. Art galleries, consultants, museum gift shops, and fine retail shops throughout the United States represent their pottery, jewelry, paintings, prints, fibers, metal, and mixed-media artworks.
